Here 20%, 40%, 40% is the ratio of aggregates 10 mm, 20 mm and c/ sand which is fix prior for meeting/achieve combined grading criteria with in limit as per IS 383:2016 . we can change these percentage of aggregate till we dont arrive percentage of combined grading with in limit as per Indian standard 383 which is given below:

ADVANTAGE: If we design of concrete mix as per combined grading passing percentage, concrete density is more because voids develops in concrete is filled up by aggregate with suitable proportion which we achieve earlier in combined grading and strength of concrete is also high in comparison of tradition concrete.

In 20 mm seive passing percentage of 20 mm aggregate in above example is :93.76%
In 20 mm seive passing percentage of 10 mm aggregate in above example is: 100%
In 20 mm seive passing percentage of fine aggregate in above example is :100%
so combined passing % for this perticular seive is = 93.76*0.40+100*0.20+100*0.40 = 97.50 %
Do rest calculation according to above calculation.
